Brunch, Gypsies and Goofballs....

Just returned from a brunch outing courtesy of Chilly....(which was delicious, thank you very much,..although it was a wee bit disgusting when you returned to the table with breakfast fare and a SALAD, Chilly....GACK! I realize after 14 years, I should be used to this, but not so much!) Had some interesting brunch conversation.... Mommy : "Almost Teen Caveboy, I can totally picture you rockin' the surgeon scrubs and saving lives. That's very cool!" Irish Dancer Girl : "And I can totally see me using my princess camera to take a picture of you in the nurses room." (WHAT???) Almost Teen Caveboy chokes on his beverage and wants to offer up his sister for sale...."Can you list her on ebay this week?" ~~~~~~~~~ Fast forward to parking lot...Mommy...busy buckling in the Irish dancer girl...Almost Teen Caveboy...prepping his iPod for the trip home....a normal All American family moment...or is it??? Ode to Jane

As you may know, I absolutely LOVE Jane Austen. " Pride and Prejudice" is hands down one of my favorite books of all time. My wordle this weekend is to honor my dear Jane! If you've never read an Austen novel, not to worry...the dvd versions are pretty darn swell too! I have this on my desk.... Yep, it's my Jane Austen Action Figure! I smile every time I see it! She's my muse! When I am troubled, I just look at her and ask... " W hat W ould J ane D o?" I even drink my coffee every morning from this mug... Last summer, I read these Austen inspired books.. They were fantastic! I highly recommend them both! This summer I am reading this.... Completely bizarre, I realize, but I am just compelled to read it! My son is convinced the Swine Flu is going to turn us all into zombies, so what the hey? I am ordering this lovely bookmark from Etsy....oh, my dear sweet Etsy.... More fun with Jane.... "Becoming Jane" is a fabulous movie starring James McEv...

Now I Know I'm Old + Best Weight Loss Motivator Ever!

First off, how many of you saw these guys yesterday? That's right, baby! We got us some Sleestaks ! As I wandered through my family room past the cavemen grunting and pointing at the bigger cavemen tossing around a pigskin on TV, I decided to take a load off and sit for a minute. Imagine my PURE delight when I saw the commercial for the re-make of "The Land of the Lost" starring Will Ferrell!! The cavemen on the couch couldn't understand my excitement...duh, Dawn, they're cavemen...but I jumped up and began blabbering all over about Sleestaks, Will, Holly and their little freaky caveman friend, Cha-ka (who reminded me alot of the smaller caveman on the couch..). That sent me down memory lane reflecting on all the great Sid & Marty Krofft creations that I would spend every Saturday in the 70's watching on our TV. Do you remember any of these??? (Now, if you are a young whippersnapper, you will now completely understand the title of my blog...you will be th...
