44 Candles

Anyone have a fire extinguisher handy? My cake is on fire....

Today, I celebrate my 44th birthday! This is me celebrating back in the days of the caveman (as my son so sweetly noted...I'm in the stylish red plaid...)

I'm going to spend the day curled up with some good books, favorite music and quality family time. Irish Dancer Girl has planned a "surprise" party for me this evening. (Don't worry about how I know this....she's the one who whispered it to me yesterday...lol!) My Mom is preparing my favorite dish and IDG (aka Cat) is making the birthday treats. Teen Caveboy is serenading me with some music on his guitar. I might have to enforce the "It's My Birthday and You Will Play Board Games With Me" rule later too....(yes, Chilly...that includes you...and NO, I will NOT play Scrabble with you...clearly my vocabulary is much larger than yours and I do NOT appreciate being beaten by someone who uses 3 & 4 letter words like "quiz" and "what".....)

A little birdie told me that I am being treated to a breakfast outing so time to scrap the lounge~wear for something more appropriate for the public. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday too!

What's your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?

xoxo

Happy happy birthday, Dawn! Enjoy every second of it! *hugs*

I don't really have a favorite way to celebrate--we usually had a family get together when I was younger, but now CJ & I celebrate dinner together and I love that, too!

Happy Birthday to you! You look so much younger than 44. My day is coming up just behind yours. Way to be a scorpio in her 40s with me.

Your photo looks just like Cat!

Happy Birthday! Yours is the day before mine; we were meant to be friends.
Happy Birthday to YOU!

Mine will be coming up in a couple of weeks. Since I'm a single girl, the past few years I've celebrated in the company of my sister and her daughter. We'll do the same this year with a girl's night in watching chick flix and junk food. Can't wait!
Happy birthday, girlie! 44? Why, you're just a young 'un! Hope you have an absolutely fabulous wonderful memorable day.
Happy Birthday Dawn!! I'm 44 too...and I love it :)
I hope you have a fantastic birthday, it certainly sounds like you are.

Happy Birthday, my fellow 1965'er! Your birthday plans sound perfectly wonderful!

And I'm with you on the Scrabble. My husband can't spell for beans but manages to beat me every time in that game.

Have fun today!

I prefer to ignore my birthday usually. The only reason I even blogged about it this year is because it was a big one. I still look in the mirror and the image simply does not match the years...

Oops, I missed it by a day. My silly blogger reader sometimes delays it's updates... and I don't understand why.

Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

My favorite way before kids to spend my birthday was a fancy lunch, shopping and a big party at night! How I feel like a day in my pajamas, and some cake with hubby, landon and Coco would be HEAVEN!

A Wee Drop of Irish (or Cloudy With a Chance of B*tchy Part 2)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! How about a wee stroll down memory lane?  Thank you to everyone who messaged me about sharing this blast from the past again this year:)  (yes, Maureen...I do read your emails too!)  Even though it was originally posted in 2009, not too much has changed (says Dawn in her "I can't believe I have PMS every single year at this same time"  happy (think Pharrell singing "Happy") voice.  So grab a cup of Irish coffee, Jameson whiskey, Guinness or whatever suits your fancy on this fine St. Patrick's Day and let me share a tale of whimsy with you.  (and may the luck of the Irish be with you if you come my way today!  Don't say I didn't warn you!)

Oops! What's she doing here again? Wasn't she just here a month ago? UGH! The nerve! We had so much "fun" last time she was here, didn't we?

Well, since I have a full day of Irish activities planned, I guess I better be gettin' my Irish on....hmm...let's s…

For Gigi ... A Letter to Heaven

Today there is a happy celebration in Heaven as it would be my beautiful grandmother Gigi's birthday.  Gigi was definitely the most important influence on my life and it became crystal clear to me how deeply when I was asked to write the eulogy for her memorial service a few years back.  I decided to send a letter directly to God explaining what amazing treasure was on it's way.  It is a letter meant to bring smiles and giggles.  Thanks in advance for allowing me to share that special letter with you today as we honor her memory:)
