Say WHAT?! Wednesday...Sneak Out Edition

The following conversation is real...only the names have been changed to protect the NOT so innocent...

Irish Dancer Girl: I like boys, Daddy.

(this topic of conversation seems to come up A LOT lately....)

Chilly: No boys are allowed to come here to date you EVER....

Irish Dancer Girl (narrowing her eyes and grimacing): Yes, they are!

Chilly: NO! NOT EVER! (He makes menacing fist to palm punching motions to make his point...)

(Mommy intervenes...)

Chilly and Almost Teen Caveboy glare and make grunting noises...

Irish Dancer Girl: FINE! Then I'll just take my flashlight...climb out my window....climb over the fence and use Mom's cell phone and call my boyfriend....then I'll take Mom's car and he will tell me where to meet him...and then I will go meet him...and then I'll come home...and climb back in my window...

Chilly: (stunned silence...he's got nothin'....)

WELL SNAP! How old are you, Irish Dancer Girl??? Did you say 6???? Looks like I've got my hands full with this one! I was already concerned about the enormous amounts of sparkly lip gloss that she slathers on every day...looks like she's already had her 16th birthday and didn't invite me to the party!

I do have this to console me for now....it's a sign that hangs outside Catherine's bedroom door....although it's probably just meant for Chilly and Almost Teen Caveboy...I'll just hope for the best.... (it says "I (eye) Love (heart) You (u) at the top and bottom...at least she's polite!)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

xoxo

I'M LAUGHING OVER HERE BECAUSE I HAVE THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM...MY DAUGHTER WANTS TO ACTUALLY BE ONE OF THE GUYS! NO LIPGLOSS (OKAY, MAYBE A BONNIE BELL LIPSMACKER OR TWO IN PRIVATE), NO PINK, NO RUFFLES--NOT EVER! I'M HOPING SHE'LL GROW OUT OF IT, AND YOU'RE HOPING YOURS WILL GROW AWAY FROM IT! HA HA, WE'D HAVE SOME GOOD STORIES TO SHARE OVER COFFEE, I'M SURE!

Well, all right then!

I think someone has been watching too many Taylor Swift videos ;-)

Chilly have a shotgun yet? Not to keep the boys out, but to greet escaping Irish Dancer at the bottom of her window.

This is just beyond adorable...and something I used to do myself.

Sounds like Cat was raised well. Smart, Artistic, knows what she wants...and how to be nice in order to get it.

Great job, Miss Dawn!

They do grow up way to fast! Love the conversation! Although, I wouldn't want her sneaking out at night with those creatures you have around your home!!

Some friends told us about how they sat in their kids' playhouse one night (dressed in black), waiting for their teenage son to sneak out of the house (the neighbors had filled them in on his antics). Imagine his heartrate when he climbed out his window and snuck past the playhouse to hear, "Just where in the hell do you think YOU'RE going?!" I'm afraid that's going to be you soon, honey. (Better build a playhouse.)

Tuesday's Tribute...Heartbeat..It's a Lovebeat

Yet Another Jay and Deb Production. I am paying my Tuesday's Tribute to Chilly. Today we celebrate our first Heartaversary. What is a Heartaversary, you ask? Well, settle in with a cuppa and let me weave a tale of wonder... One year ago today I was pacing the waiting room floor of University Medical Center in Tucson waiting for my husband’s surgeon to inform me if Chilly had survived his triple bypass. I’ll spare you the sordid details of how all this came about. I’ll just say that it was very fast and unexpected. The prospect of losing my spouse in my early 40’s wasn’t in my plan obviously. My plan was more of a “hanging with the kiddos, going to the Renaissance Faire, beating my son at Guitar Hero, driving my husband crazy for decades” kind of plan. But God always has a bigger plan for us. In this case, he was trying to keep Chilly on the planet for a while longer. As I have written before, Chilly has had two very challenging years. He has been a diabetic for a couple of decade
