Musings on Monday...for what ails you...

We've been recovering from a nasty grumpy bug that came for a very unwelcome visit last week. The wee folk in our household seemed to be a bit "out of sorts." Rudeness and mayhem were in abundance in our fair dwelling. Even Chilly was growling at his socks and bad foot. So of course, I did what any good doctor would recommend...I rented a bunch of movies, consulted Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and played cards with my parents.

I must say Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's Fighter-Quarrelers Cure was just the ticket to restore harmony at the Bee and Rose Manor. (The Tattletale Cure and Interrupter Cure did their part to help too!) Thank you, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, for your wonderful wisdom! I cannot recommend Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and her sage advice enough! (I'm sure you could apply her wisdom to surly co-workers, persnickety spouses and annoying siblings too...)

We also watched the movie "Inkheart"....it's FANTASTIC! Catherine and I watched it twice in one afternoon because we loved it so much! Cornelia Funke (author of "Inkheart") also wrote a wonderful story called "The Thief Lord" set in Italy that I highly recommend. It's also available on DVD as a film. My kids really enjoyed that one too!

Chilly's snarling was subdued by a rousing game of Five Crowns with me and my parents. This game can get reeeaaaaly competitive, so wear protective gear and bring your plethora of insults to hurl at your competitors. (Yes, I throw all sportsman-like behavior out the window when playing this game.) It's also horribly addicting and should come with a warning label as such. (Side note: I'm comin' for you today, Mom...You are going down...I will defeat you...get ready to do a lot of crying, Mom....oh, and by the way, Mom...thanks for teaching me a new word..."doom-a-flachie"...it means "thing-a-ma-jig"...I can't stop saying it now...)

I spent the remainder of my weekend being completely lazy...(gasp!) I watched several episodes of Gene Simmons Family Jewels (guilty pleasure) and dreamed about chocolate covered bananas and Dippin-Dots....mmmmm...yummy....I had to settle for a piece of apple pie instead...

If you are feeling out of sorts or have the blogger blahs...head on over to Chaka's blog! The blahs will go bye-bye! I'm a huge fan of Chaka! Chaka is on a mission to have 100 followers before the end of July OR(excuse me...I'm having a Linda Richman "verklempt" moment...)

Oh my gosh, I LOVED Mrs. Piggle Wiggle when I was little. What a flashback :) My rainy Monday blues are being treated with cleaning out the garage and gagging over the disgusting dead bugs. Talk about awesome!

I have Monday blahs. And to get rid of them I tried to take a shower and I got bathed in ice water since in the middle of it they turned off our hot water. So I'm twice as grumpy now! Cliff is off to buy me some ice cream. :)

I want Dippin Dots! And I've been thinking about watching Inkheart... Sounds like you had a very therapeutic weekend! :)
I thought I was the only one who remembered Chaka! Wow! I am impressed! I was wondering about Inkheart. It does look good and we will be renting it soon. I need to try that game, too. Gene Simmons is a hoot! I used to be afraid of him and his entourage, but my husband and I enjoy watching his show. His son is too funny! Lori

I'm SUCH a sucky blog-keeper-up-with that it seems everytime I find my way back here there has been a bloggy facelift.. either that or Bee and Rose has entered the bloggy witness protection program and keeps getting ratted out to the goombas and must then reinvent herself. MISSED YA! I'm all about supporting the overtly needy efforts of bloggers seeking the approval and adoration of faceless people in the blogospere so I'm over to Chaka's pad. Keep it civil kiddos.. St. John's Warty hiney next time, no?

I LOVE Mrs. Piggle Wiggle!!!! I so wish I could get some of her cures to use around here ... like some kind of powder that mutes a loud talker! And her house was upside down, which I was obsessed with. I used to lie on my back and look at the ceiling and try to imagine that as the floor. I was a weird kid!!

And love your new header ...

I love Mrs. Piggle Wiggle too! Thanks for the reminder about her books! I will have to get some at the library to read to the kids.
I also went over and checked out Chaka!

Hope you all have a healthier, happier week!

Ah, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. It has been way too long since I read those books.

What do I do to get rid of the grumpies and blahs? Chocolate. And then more chocolate. And then even more chocolate after that.

Movies, popcorn, M&M's in the popcorn and a large coke that doesn't add pounds (does that exist..and I'm not talking the diet kind either :)

Gotta try that Crowns game. :)

I just finished reading Inkheart! I nicked it from Noah...but when I saw the movie trailer on youtube I thought that it looked like a better movie than book! The Thief Lord is groovy too! Cornelia Funke is a German author so we tend to read a lot of her stuff because my ex husband is German and the kids speak the language too:) Hooray for good books!

All righty then…do you have a cup of coffee, hot cocoa, tea, martini? How about a masseuse? You’re gonna need it! It’s my 100th post and by the time you are done reading it, you’ll probably feel as old and tired as Rip Van Winkle! You know me and my long winded rambley-ness! A Wee Drop of Irish (or Cloudy With a Chance of B*tchy Part 2)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! How about a wee stroll down memory lane?  Thank you to everyone who messaged me about sharing this blast from the past again this year:)  (yes, Maureen...I do read your emails too!)  Even though it was originally posted in 2009, not too much has changed (says Dawn in her "I can't believe I have PMS every single year at this same time"  happy (think Pharrell singing "Happy") voice.  So grab a cup of Irish coffee, Jameson whiskey, Guinness or whatever suits your fancy on this fine St. Patrick's Day and let me share a tale of whimsy with you.  (and may the luck of the Irish be with you if you come my way today!  Don't say I didn't warn you!)

Oops! What's she doing here again? Wasn't she just here a month ago? UGH! The nerve! We had so much "fun" last time she was here, didn't we?

Well, since I have a full day of Irish activities planned, I guess I better be gettin' my Irish on....hmm...let's s…

Chilly Update...

I hate this disease with a passion...more on that in a moment...

First and foremost, there aren't enough words in the English language to convey my most sincere gratitude for the amazing love and support you've all shared with my family. I am completely overwhelmed and very humbled by it all. I've shared all of your comments and emails with Chilly and the kiddos. It has meant so much to us! Thank you, thank you and thank you again!

I wish I could write that Chilly is fine and coming home tomorrow. I wish I could go back to last Friday when every fiber of my being was screaming at me that Chilly was having a heart attack. I wish I would have pinned him to the ground and shoved an aspirin down his throat when he put me off about his symptoms. I wish he would have agreed to go to the ER...Sadly, I can't turn back time...

We were told today that Chilly has suffered a stroke in addition to a heart attack. These two events occured together...meaning, he had the stroke w…
