Tuesday's Tribute: Cat's Guest Post (Her Afternoon with an Irishman!)

My Tuesday's Tribute is to my lovely Irish dancer daughter, Catherine, age 6! She has been working hard at her dance lessons and will be in many performances this month!

Catherine is my guest co-poster today. She wants to share some exciting news with you ! Guess who we are hanging out with at Irish dance class this afternoon?

Michael Patrick Gallagher, Riverdance lead and co-owner/teacher of Cat's Irish dance school, Tir Conaill Academy!! He will be teaching at Tir Conaill today! Can I hear a whoop whoop?! Her weekly teacher is Christopher McGrory, world class champion dancer, platinum selling Irish musician, and owner of her school as well. Chris is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet! (and his music is fantastic!) This kid of mine found the Irish pot of gold when we found Tir Conaill Academy!

Cat wants to share a video of Michael Pat dancing. She'd like to show you what she's learning. Irish dance is just incredible to watch. She recently started wearing "hard shoes"(which is what they are doing in the video.)

If you've never seen Michael Pat dance, I hope you take a moment to watch because he is AMAZING! (it's a few minutes, but it's a fabulous few minutes, and would mean the world to Cat to know that you enjoyed it! She begged me to post it!)

Here is Michael Pat on "Dancing With the Stars" last spring. He will rock your socks off! (Keep your eyes on his feet! They are in the Guiness Book of World Records for the World's Fastest Feet! The steps are super complicated!)

(You'll need to turn up your sound for this!)

I bet you're ready for St. Patty's Day now!

Catherine says thank you for watching "her" video! (proud mama thanks you too!)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

p.s. Update: For those of you who've inquired, Christopher's cd's are available through his link up there. Just click on his name and it will take you right to him!

(Thanks everyone for your interest today! It's been overwhelming and wonderful!)

Cute Girl! How did you ever get her involved in Irish Dance? I think its great..but its not as common.. (or I live in a hole and I don't know what I'm talking about)
Wow that's amazing! And something that I could never in a million years do!

I tried to have my oldest daughter be guest blogger a few times and it didn't work out...she's too temperamental and a little bit of a diva...Congrats to Cat for doing such a great job!

She looks like she could definitely be one of those dancers on Dancing with the Stars (either a star, or a dancer).

Good luck with her lessons.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love making new friends.

I love this type of dance and I like this guy better than Michael Flatley...he doesn't seem as arrogant.

Good luck to your daughter on learning this and on the many programs that I am sure she has coming up! I think it's cool that she does this.

That type of dancing looks so hard...but very cool. Enjoy all the extras. *How awesome to learn from some of the best.

Maybe we could see a video of the class.... :D

I just love Irish Dancing and I love the video! I remember that when it was on! Tell her she did a bang up job with her post -- and to keep on dancing!

And I was lucky enough to see The Lord of the Dance himself -- Michael Flatley -- in his Lord of the Dance on Broadway years ago. It was way too cool.

Very cool! I LOVE Riverdance!

And have you ever seen the movie Angela's Ashes? Go rent it if you haven't. I can't remember if it was Frank McCourt who played Kevin the Bartender on Ryan's Hope, BUt he is either the author of that book OR it was his brother who wrote it.

You have done a great job as guest blogger, Cat!

Blast--I can't see the video at work--silly blocks! Well, I guess I SHOULD be working rather than looking at really cool dance videos--but then again, this IS my break!

I used to use the Riverdance soundtrack to get to sleep when I was in high school. Something about the rhythm of the clicking of the shoes did it every time.

PS: I really think Catherine may be needing her own blog soon. She has quite a knack for it. :)

A Wee Drop of Irish (or Cloudy With a Chance of B*tchy Part 2)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! How about a wee stroll down memory lane?  Thank you to everyone who messaged me about sharing this blast from the past again this year:)  (yes, Maureen...I do read your emails too!)  Even though it was originally posted in 2009, not too much has changed (says Dawn in her "I can't believe I have PMS every single year at this same time"  happy (think Pharrell singing "Happy") voice.  So grab a cup of Irish coffee, Jameson whiskey, Guinness or whatever suits your fancy on this fine St. Patrick's Day and let me share a tale of whimsy with you.  (and may the luck of the Irish be with you if you come my way today!  Don't say I didn't warn you!)

Oops! What's she doing here again? Wasn't she just here a month ago? UGH! The nerve! We had so much "fun" last time she was here, didn't we?

Well, since I have a full day of Irish activities planned, I guess I better be gettin' my Irish on....hmm...let's s…

For Gigi ... A Letter to Heaven

Today there is a happy celebration in Heaven as it would be my beautiful grandmother Gigi's birthday.  Gigi was definitely the most important influence on my life and it became crystal clear to me how deeply when I was asked to write the eulogy for her memorial service a few years back.  I decided to send a letter directly to God explaining what amazing treasure was on it's way.  It is a letter meant to bring smiles and giggles.  Thanks in advance for allowing me to share that special letter with you today as we honor her memory:)
